Scamp presents! They are the decals we order from the Scamp factory. Tonight we got to put some final touches on the Scamp before heading on our trip back east with it. The pictures didn’t come out great because it was in the shade, but it looks so good! It’s like putting pinstripes on a classic car - it really makes a difference and actually looks like a Scamp now - people won’t have to ask us, “What is this thing?!” I love it! And I realize I still haven’t posted pictures of the inside yet - I will when we get back. In the meantime, check out my photos page for more pictures.

We thought about buying new rims that were already white but we thought we’d try to spray paint them first - see if it worked and save a little bit of money. We took the tires off, scrubbed down the rims with a scrubby pad, then taped off the rims. We used a Rustolum Appliance Spray paint in white. It seems to have worked and the Scamp looks a lot better. It has rubbed off in a few spots, but we knew that would happen. We have enough paint though for touch ups.

It’s actually a horse trailer cover, but it fits the Scamp and now I don’t have to worry about the sun bleaching my curtains more then it already has. We also got our new tire cover and the difference is pretty incredible.

We picked it up last week and although it’s not perfect, she is over 30 years old for crying out loud, it’s good enough for now. She has a nice layer of paint over her to protect her from the sun and wind. He also fixed a few more of the fiberglass places that needed fixed and it makes a world of difference. We added the door hinge when we got home with our new rivet gun (who would have ever thought it was so much fun to own a rivet gun?) that allows us to open the door and have it stay open. We are also planning on getting a cover for it soon so that we can protect my fabric that I worked so hard on. Western sun really kills everything. We also ordered a new spare tire cover because the old one is ugly and shot, two new tire rims that are white to spif up the look of her, and a few Scamp decals so people know what she is. I’m excited to pull it all together! Enjoy the pictures.

We’ve been driving by the paint place for a week now and we finally saw the Scamp outside all pretty and shiny. We decided to stop by and check it out today. Apparently, it is really hard to paint fiberglass and the paint guy had a difficult time. When the paint was applied every little dent, ding, and crack showed up about 200x worse then it was before. Some of the paint even soaked through the fiberglass leaving an ‘orange peel’ affect and a spider webbing pattern. He himself was disappointed with how it turned out, let alone us, so he promised to redo it and fix a few more fiberglass areas that will hopefully take the paint better. I spent the later part of the afternoon being upset about how it looked, but I’m going to hope that it will look better next week. After all, it is a 30 year old trailer and just about anything is better then how it was when we gave it over to him so I have to be patient. Of course, after all the time and energy we put it to it we wanted to finish it off with a perfect paint job. So, we will wait another week to see how she looks. I’ll keep you posted! In the meantime I’ve started a Scamp Before & After scrapbook so we can show off all our hard work.
